Car Keyfob Batteries

The keyfobs that lock and unlock your vehicles use a low-power RF circuit to send the signal that requires a short surge of power each time you push the button. When you consider how many times per year you push those buttons, it’s easy to understand that these gadgets need efficient, long-lasting batteries.

Virtually all modern key fobs or “car remotes” as they’re sometimes called are powered by button (“coin”) cells with the “CR” designation. This denotes cells powered by lithium manganese oxide chemistry. These batteries provide 3V nominal power and very long service in a compact case.
